Run2O
1. Overview
Run2O is a local-first running tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch, operated by iPocket. It does not require a Run2O account and does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or a social feed.
Run2O processes fitness, health, and location information on your devices to provide its features. iPocket does not operate a server that receives your run history. Local processing is separate from data handled by Apple services: using weather, maps, purchases, Health, or paired-device features can involve Apple’s systems, and sharing sends the content you select to your chosen destination.
Run2O does not provide iCloud or CloudKit synchronization of run records. Apple Health may separately synchronize its own data according to your Apple account and system settings. That is controlled by Apple, separately from Run2O’s local database.
This policy covers the Run2O apps. Visits to this policy and the product website are covered by the iPocket website privacy policy, including website hosting, analytics, and Cookie controls. Website analytics are separate from the app’s workout processing; enabling them does not upload your Run2O history.
2. Data Run2O processes
Depending on the features and permissions you use, Run2O may process:
- Precise route coordinates, timestamps, accuracy, speed, and altitude
- Distance, moving and elapsed time, current and average pace, calories, cadence, elevation, and GPS quality
- Heart rate, metric samples, kilometer splits, pause intervals, and recording-device information
- Free-run or interval settings, stage goals, repetitions, progress, and completed interval segments
- Manually entered body weight, or optionally the latest authorized Apple Health body mass, for calorie estimates
- Run notes and weather samples associated with locations and times during the run
- Apple Health workout identifiers, paired-device transfer state, and minimal deletion identifiers and dates used to prevent restoration
- Local preferences, entitlement state, active-session recovery data
This information is used to record the workout, recover an interrupted session, present live metrics, build run history and statistics, show run details, coordinate workouts with your paired Apple Watch, and generate exports you request.
3. Location, motion, weather, and maps
Run2O requests precise location to measure distance and record your route. During an active run, background location allows recording to continue when the screen is off or another app is open. Motion and pedometer data support available cadence, elevation gain, and distance estimates.
With an active weather subscription and an available run location, Run2O may automatically request Apple WeatherKit data at the start, during, and at the end of a run. Requests send the required coordinates and, when retrieving historical weather, the requested time. Returned weather, such as temperature, apparent temperature, conditions, humidity, wind, pressure, and UV information, is saved locally with the sample location and time. Availability depends on permissions, location coverage, and the service. Previously saved weather remains after the subscription ends.
MapKit receives the map region needed to display or render a map. Run2O draws the route overlay and may cache a route snapshot locally. See Apple’s privacy policy for Apple’s handling of its services.
You can deny or revoke permissions in system Settings. Without location, a normal GPS route recording is unavailable; declining other permissions may make corresponding metrics or features unavailable.
4. Apple Health and body weight
On iPhone, Health integration is optional. With the relevant settings and permissions, Run2O can save completed workouts and related routes and metrics to Apple Health, and restore Run2O-created workouts with their routes and heart-rate samples. Local records may store the Health workout identifier to coordinate saves, restoration, and deletion.
On Apple Watch, permission to write workouts is required to start recording. Declining or revoking that permission prevents starting a Watch run. Other Health permissions, such as heart-rate access, control which metrics are available.
Body weight is a separate read use on iPhone. When Health integration and use of Health weight are enabled, Run2O may read the latest available authorized body-mass sample to estimate calories. This sample can come from you or another source in Apple Health; it is not limited to data created by Run2O. The value is used for calculation and does not overwrite your saved manual weight. If Health weight is disabled or unavailable, Run2O uses your manually configured weight or the app’s default. Manual weight is saved in local preferences.
You can edit manual weight, turn off use of Health weight, or revoke body-mass access. Disabling a setting or permission does not delete the source Health sample. Manage permissions and existing Health data in Apple Health or system Settings. Deleting Run2O does not automatically delete Health records.
5. Apple Watch and paired-device communication
The Apple Watch app can record independently and can coordinate live workout state, interval progress, metrics, and save or discard decisions with the paired iPhone. This communication uses Apple’s HealthKit workout mirroring and WatchConnectivity frameworks; iPocket does not relay the live session through a separate Run2O server.
6. Exports and sharing
Sharing is always initiated by you. Run2O can create:
- A visual run-summary image
- CSV files containing selected workout metrics, notes, weather, splits, and interval results
- GPX files containing route coordinates and timestamps for runs with a trustworthy route
Before sharing, review the file and destination carefully. Routes, timestamps, heart rate, notes, and other workout details can reveal sensitive information. After you save or send an export, the destination and recipient control their copy, and Run2O cannot retrieve it for you.
7. Purchases and weather subscription
Run2O offers an optional one-time Pro purchase for advanced interval features and a separate auto-renewable monthly weather subscription. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple account subscription settings. Apple processes payment, purchase restoration, refunds, and transaction records through the App Store and StoreKit. iPocket does not receive your complete payment-card details or Apple account password.
8. Data security and retention
Local data relies on Apple’s app sandboxing, device data protection, and your device passcode. Apple services have their own data handling and account controls. No method of storage or transmission can guarantee absolute security.
Run records and their notes, routes, metrics, and weather remain locally until permanently deleted or the app and its data are deleted. Hiding a run retains the record. After permanent deletion, Run2O may retain the run identifier, associated Health workout identifier, and deletion date locally to prevent automatic restoration. These markers remain until local app data is deleted.
Manual weight, other preferences, and recovery state remain until changed, reset through available controls, or removed with the app’s data. Run2O’s local run database is excluded from system backup; this does not mean every preference or separately stored Apple Health copy is excluded. System backups and Health synchronization follow the applicable device and Apple settings.
Apple Health records, Watch-local data, and exported files are separate copies. Deleting an iPhone record or app does not guarantee their removal. Manage each copy on the relevant device, service, or destination.
9. Your choices and deletion controls
You can:
- Use Run2O without an account and manage Location, Motion & Fitness, and Health permissions. Watch recording requires workout-writing permission.
- Keep iPhone Health integration disabled, turn off use of Health weight, or change manual weight.
- Hide a run on this device and restore it in Settings. Hiding is not deletion.
- Permanently delete a local run. Minimal deletion identifiers may remain as described above.
- Choose deletion of an associated Apple Health workout in supported deletion flows. This depends on Health access and successful processing; check and manage remaining copies in the Health app.
- Manage the weather subscription through Apple. New requests require an active subscription and an available run location; cancellation does not delete saved weather and access may continue until the paid period ends.
- Avoid exports and sharing, or delete copies from the destinations where you saved them.
- Delete the app and its data on the relevant device to clear local storage. Offloading an app while keeping documents and data, or removing only its Home Screen icon, does not clear that data.
Review Apple Health, Watch, and exported copies separately. Copies sent to other people or services are outside Run2O’s control.
10. Children’s privacy
Run2O is not designed specifically for children under 13. We do not knowingly use the app to collect personal information from children on iPocket-operated servers. A parent or guardian should supervise a child’s use of location, health, export, and sharing features.
11. Policy updates
If Run2O’s data handling or service providers change materially, we will update this policy and may provide notice through the website, app release notes, or another appropriate channel. The updated policy takes effect on the date shown on this page.
